Dana Basara, DNP

Dana Basara, DNP

Dean of Nursing and Allied Health

Dana Basara, dean of Nursing and Allied Health at Grantham University, is an educator and nurse administrator with over 35 years of experience in healthcare. She has been actively involved in student cultural diversity, pre- and post-licensure nursing education, faculty mentorship, and has a rich history in Emergency Nursing in legislative activities and advancement of professional nursing education and clinical practice. Dr. Basara earned her Master’s in Nursing Administration at the University of Massachusetts, and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Organizational Leadership at the University of Kansas. Her passion is for homeless and underserved populations, and she currently sits on the National Health Care for the Homeless Council Clinician’s Steering Committee.

Niccole Buckley, DBA

Niccole Buckley, DBA

Associate Provost

Dr. Niccole Buckley is the Associate Provost. In addition to a Doctorate of Business Administration, she also holds a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, a Bachelor of Science from Park University and several certifications, including CAEL prior learning assessor, Six Sigma Green Belt and Criteria Reference Instructional Development. Dr. Buckley has experience in the financial and legal industries as a corporate trainer, publishing several training sessions before joining Grantham University as a faculty member.

Dr. Buckley served as IACBE Region V’s 2015 Board President and has a long history of presenting at national DEAC and IACBE conferences, board meetings and events. She recently published “Reversing the Trend: The Effect of Full-Time Faculty on Student Persistence” and “Employer Perceptions of Military Members with Online Degree” through IABPAD. She’s been on Cambridge Who’s Who Among Executive & Professional Women since 2007. While at Grantham, Dr. Buckley served as faculty, chair and Dean of the Mark Skousen Business School before transitioning into her current role.

Joshua Carcopa, MBA

Joshua Carcopa, MBA

Associate Director of Evaluations and Student Records

Joshua Carcopa, associate director of Evaluations and Student Records, oversees Grantham University’s transfer of credit and Registrar’s Office, and developed the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program for the University. In addition to a Master Certification in PLA, he holds an MBA in International Business from the University of Wales, Swansea, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Central Missouri. Mr. Carcopa is a student ambassador for the University of Wales and sits on the board for the American Lung Association, Midwest Region.

Tina Freestone, MA

Tina Freestone, MA

Associate Dean, Criminal Justice, College of Arts and Sciences

Tina Freestone, associate dean, Criminal Justice, College of Arts and Sciences, spent several years as a law enforcement officer with a special assignment as a narcotic detective. Her experience includes drug investigations, police operations and procedures, criminal investigations, interviewing and interrogation, corrections, and covert operations. Ms. Freestone continues to teach and update curriculum, coupling her practical experience in law enforcement with her education to advance Grantham’s Criminal Justice program. She holds a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Albany.

Julius Leary, MBA

Dean of Foundations Faculty

Julius Leary, dean of Foundations Faculty, holds a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from Elmhurst College. He is currently working toward a Doctorate in Education, Interdisciplinary Leadership, through Creighton University. Prior to joining Grantham, Mr. Leary applied his business expertise in a number of industries. Before transitioning into his current role, he served as business faculty for Grantham.

Lorchi Lo, MBA

Chair of Foundations Faculty

Lorchi Lo, chair of Foundations Faculty, holds a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Dana College. He is currently working toward a Doctorate in Education at Creighton University. Mr. Lo sits on the McGraw-Hill advisory board. Prior to Grantham, he held positions in management and recruiting within the telecommunication and service industries. During his time at Grantham, Mr. Lo served as a business faculty and associate chair of Foundations Faculty before transitioning into his current role.

David Marker, Ph.D

David Marker, Ph.D

Dean of the Mark Skousen School of Business

Dr. David Marker, dean of the Mark Skousen School of Business, has been with Grantham University since 2013. He spent the previous 12 years at the École Supérieure de Commerce (ESC) – Clermont Ferrand, France, where he served as a full professor, the director of several master’s programs and the dean of faculty for 50 full-time professors and more than 100 adjunct professors. While there, ESC earned AACSB accreditation and was consistently ranked by The Financial Times among the top business schools in Europe.

Dr. Marker began his professional career with nearly two decades of experience in building small business before returning to school to pursue an academic career. He earned his Ph.D. in Business – Organizational Theory as well as his Master’s degree in Business – Organizational Behavior, both from the University of Kansas. He is a life-time member of Beta Gamma Sigma and has taught at large public universities and at small private schools. He has lectured and presented research papers in many different countries.

Nancy Miller, Ph.D.

Nancy Miller, Ph.D.

Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science

Dr. Nancy Miller, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, has taught in three countries, online and on the ground, and had dean, chair and program director experience. She worked as a civilian in an Air Force research lab investigating telescope control and managing the design and implementation of systems for a large telescope. Her Doctor of Philosophy is in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in Control Systems from the University of New Mexico. She also holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance, a Master of Science in Applied Physics and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from Texas Tech University.

Jennifer Shreckengost, EdS

Jennifer Shreckengost, EdS

Dean of Curriculum and Instruction

Jennifer Shreckengost, dean of Curriculum and Instruction, holds an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Technology from the University of Missouri, Columbia; a Master of Arts in Teaching – Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Saint Mary; and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from William Jewell College. In addition developing online courses using a variety of curricular models as an instructional designer, Ms. Shreckengost has written and developed multiple online courses for both hybrid and online institutions. She continually participates in research and editorial responsibilities within her field, presenting nationally at the Online Learning Consortium International Conference on Online Learning, Summer Institute on Distance Learning and Instructional Technology, and the annual conference for the Association of Colleges for Tutoring and Learning Assistance.

Steve Turner, MBA

Steve Turner, MBA

Manager of Academic Student Progress

Steve Turner, manager of Academic Student Progress, is a retired Marine Corps Officer. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Averett University. Mr. Turner is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a registered representative with FINRA.

Boubacar Vilane, DBA

Chair of Foundations Faculty

Boubacar Vilane, chair of Foundations Faculty, holds a Master of Business Administration from Emporia State University and a Master in Economics from Cheikh Anta Diop University. He earned a Doctorate in Business Administration at Columbia Southern University. His dissertation focused on self-leadership as a predictor of new venture success. Prior to joining Grantham, Dr. Vilane spent more than a decade in the financial, banking and real estate industries working for Edward Jones, State Street Bank, KeyBank Real Estate Capital and J.P Morgan. Dr. Vilane holds a series 7. 6 and 63 FINRA/SEC licenses.

Pat Winberg, MSN

Pat Winberg, MSN

Chair of Nursing

Pat Winberg, chair of Nursing, holds a master’s in Nursing from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree from Avila University. She has forty years of experience serving in a variety of roles in nursing education. She has taught multiple levels of nursing education and was instrumental in devising strategies to increase the retention rate of students at the practical nursing and associate degree levels of nursing education. Ms. Winberg has also held leadership positions in schools of nursing and in nursing organizations. She has thirty years of experience in accreditation of schools of nursing, serving currently as an ACEN program evaluator and a member of the review panel for associate degree nursing programs. She is a long-standing member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society.
