Craig Smith
Global Faculty Member, Craig Smith earned a Master of Public Administration from Troy University in Troy, AL. Additionally, Craig completed the three-month residential Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course at the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. He is a Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission Certified Instructor and has taught a multitude of topics including: leadership, ethics, stress management, performance measurement and customer service. Craig is an experienced law enforcement officer and currently commands the training section for Polk County Florida's Sheriff’s Office, a 1,500-member agency with an annual budget in excess of $90 million. Craig has developed and is implementing an online training program for the agency-required annual training topics. He also upgraded the agency’s video-based training curriculum and has experience in many facets of law enforcement investigations, including homicide, sex crimes, crimes against property, crimes against persons, and child abuse, from both the line and supervisory perspectives. Craig additionally has worked in the agency’s internal affairs section and in an undercover capacity. He developed and coordinated the implementation of a performance measurement system for Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.) deputies.
