David M. Virost
Global Faculty Member, David M. Virost, PE received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam as an undergraduate in 1997. During two years as a Faculty Assistant at Tennessee Tech, David evaluated assessments for both basic and intermediate electronics courses. Since 1998, with Shell Pipeline Company, David’s major projects have included the installations of four 7000 Hp motors using reduced voltage, starting two 4000 Hp Motors and (VFDs), programmable logic control (PLC)/ Human Machine Interface(HMI) packages, High and Medium Voltage switchgear, Motor Control Center (MCC) design, and station electrical layouts. His current projects include power coordination studies, PLC program development, electrical circuit troubleshooting, and technician development. While employed with Shell Pipeline, he has developed and presented a PLC training course for technicians, attended courses in electrical safety and electrical area classification, and passed the Professional Engineering Exam in 2004. David has been global faculty at Grantham since 2001.
