Dean of Business
Position Description
Dean of Business coordinates all education activities related to the Business Administration program in a distance education school environment. Dean of Business, in conjunction with the Faculty Dean, implements ongoing in-service training programs for instructors. Dean of Business works very closely with Student Affairs and Admissions to ensure a quality education for our Business Administration students and demonstrates high ethical standards in the evaluation of student performance. One of the most important parts of Dean of Business’s job is to maximize retention, in order to meet the objectives set, and adhere to various regulatory requirements in this area. Dean of Business is also a key player in self-study preparation regarding accreditation, coordinating with various regulatory agencies in their program reviews and related activities. Upgrading curriculum, including evaluation of new curriculum material is also an integral part of Dean of Business’s job.
- Serves as Subject Matter Expert (with Academic Dean) to Curriculum Project Manager on Business Administration course/program development
- Responsible for keeping curricula current by researching the fields and interfacing with the course instructors
- Interfaces with and assists Assistant Deans with instructional issues involving Business Administration courses
- Creates and revises Business Administration budget and assists in strategic planning as it applies to the Business Administration program
- Coordinates with Curriculum Project Manager to improve course guides and tests as they relate to Business Administration
- Serves on Grantham’s Academic Advisory Board
- Develops and updates curriculum, completing self study evaluations, etc.
- Assists with the hiring, training and motivating of Business Administration instructors and implementation of the University’s in service training programs
- Designs Course work supporting student retention programs and competency-based education systems.
- Cooperates with other departments in regulatory audits, budgets, placement seminars, financial aid, etc.
- Provides technical answers to Admissions for prospects
- Additional duties as assigned by the Academic Dean
Required/Preferred Skills and Experience
- Earned doctorate in the Business Administration Field
- Knowledge of distance learning educational models, adult learning styles, and technology-assisted instruction
- Ability to make decisions and work independently with exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
- Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products, Internet
- Advanced professional business writing skills
