General Studies Program Description
The Grantham University General Studies (GS) program was designed for the student who wants a well-rounded general education based on his/her needs. Achieving and/or developing effective writing skills is a major component of the GS program as over 50% of the required courses involve writing for content and persuasion.
In this program, such topics as college algebra, computer essentials, computer information systems, physical and life sciences, psychology, philosophy, art, sociology, world history, business administration, and criminal justice are covered so that the student becomes well rounded in his/her education. Writing for content and communication is emphasized in most of these areas. Writing assignments typically involve essays, reports, critiques, letters and business-related correspondence, and projects.

General Studies:
Upon successful completion of the General Studies program, an individual is prepared to work in a variety of business and government settings in positions such as office manager, executive assistant, administrative services manager, or book keeping clerk as well as more general fields such as human services or education. With further coursework and/or certification training, an individual can also enter into a wide range of other professions (e.g., law, medicine, psychology, social work, education).
