Service Members
Grantham University has provided educational opportunities to service members since 1951. We believe that every service member should have the opportunity to pursue a college degree. Grantham University has created a Military Scholarship program to help service members surmount barriers to higher education and to express our gratitude for the men and women who sacrifice to serve our country.
Grantham University’s Military Scholarship Program
- Eligibility: Military personnel eligible for TA (Tuition Assistance) may be eligible for Grantham University's military scholarship. National Guardsmen and Reservists eligible for TA may also qualify.
- Tuition Assistance pays: TA pays up to $250.00 per credit hour until the fiscal year *(FY) cap is reached. Some National Guardsmen and reservists may only receive 75% TA benefits or $187.50 per credit hour.
- The military scholarship:
- Covers t he Grantham tuition in excess of TA up to the FY cap
- Includes a Textbook and Technology Grant
- How the Military Scholarship works:
- The service member has no additional out-of-pocket expenses when using FY TA (fiscal year tuition assistance) money.
- Additionally, the Grantham Military Scholarship covers the excess tuition for those who receive 75% benefits ($187.50 per credit hour)
- Military students who use all their allotted FY TA with Grantham are allowed to take one additional credit hour - at no additional cost - for every $1,000.00 of TA paid. Additional credits must be used the same FY they are earned.
- Military students who cap out using their allotted FY TA benefits with Grantham are given the option to continue their course work with Grantham by using alternate methods of payment like the Montgomery GI Bill (if eligible), or independent financing.
- Military students who qualify for and desire to use their VA benefits at Grantham must complete the form on page 8 of our VA Information Pack, returning it to the Veteran Services office. Without this form, our VA Certifying Officials have no way of knowing about your intent to use VA benefits. Thus, an enrollment certification (22-1999) will not have been sent to the VA on your behalf. Failure to follow this instruction will substantially delay receipt of payments from the VA.
- Military students who choose to continue their education with Grantham should be aware that they may have out-of-pocket expenses once the FY TA money is exhausted. Military FYs run from October through September. These students may also utilize the Veteran Scholarship Program.
If you have additional questions, call 1.800.955.2527 or e-mail us.
*Each branch of the military has its own criteria for the amount of FY TA a service member receives.
