About Gina: Gina, who was born and raised in New Orleans, is the mother of three children and has two grandchildren, ages 7 and 6.  For the last eight years, Gina has also raised her niece; she will be graduating from high school this year – class of 2011.

In 1994, Gina started working in the distance education field (at another institution) and has maintained a position in the Registrar’s Office since that time.  As a hurricane Katrina survivor, Gina jumped at the chance to come to Kansas City after living without electricity or water for 10 days. “It was difficult not knowing what the future would hold, or how I would support myself and my family,” commented Gina. “I am so grateful for Grantham and the support that was provided to employees during that time.  I now consider Kansas City my home, with trips to Louisiana several times a year to visit family and friends.”

On the 5th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Gina and some of her fellow co-workers were interviewed by KCTV 5 News about their experiences following Hurricane Katrina. To view the interview, visit our YouTube page.

We are glad to have Gina here at Grantham University! Thank you, Gina, for your passion for education, and for all the help you provide students and staff alike each day.
