Major General Stephen L. Danner

Major General Danner is a native of Macon County, Missouri. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1977 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law in 1980. Major General Danner completed a Master of Strategic Studies through the United States Army War College in 2004.

Major General Danner enlisted in the Regular Army in 1972 and served as a combat engineer, with the 8th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He joined the Missouri National Guard as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 1981 serving in the 135th Field Artillery Brigade, 70th Troop Command and 35th Engineer Brigade and Joint Force Headquarters. Major General Danner also held several other military assignments including Deputy Chief of Staff, Commander of the 140th Regiment (Regional Training Institute-Missouri) and Assistant Adjutant General-Army. Major General Danner deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 35th Area Support Group from May 2005 to January 2007. Upon his return, he was assigned as the State Judge Advocate. He was appointed by Governor Nixon and confirmed by the Missouri State Senate as Adjutant General in January 2009.

Throughout his career, Major General Danner has received several military awards including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Missouri Meritorious and Conspicuous Service Medals, and the Combat Action Badge.

Major General Danner has four children and three grandchildren. He resides with his wife, Kathleen Steele Danner, in Jefferson City, Missouri.

First Sergeant Steven Kelly (Ret.)

First Sergeant (Ret.) Steven W. Kelly entered the Army in December 1991 as a construction engineer, and retired September 1, 2012, at Fort Hood, Texas.

He has held every leadership position in the Army from Team Leader through S3 Sergeant Major. Throughout his 21 years of military service he has been stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, Germany, and Fort Hood, Texas. He has deployed numerous times for combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, in addition to peacetime missions in various countries around the world. 1SG Kelly’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Developmental Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, and the First Sergeants Course. He also graduated from the Battle Staff Course, Air Assault Course, Airborne and Jumpmaster Course.

1SG Kelly has earned numerous awards and decorations throughout his service including: the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Combat Action Badge, and the Engineer Bronze DeFluery Medal for his contributions to the US Army Engineer Regiment.

Currently, 1SG Kelly is a Construction Inspector for the City of Killeen, Texas, where he resides with his wife of 20 years, Donna, and his four children (Amanda, Samantha, Matthew and Michael).
