New benefits added in recognition of the sacrifice of severely wounded service members

Kansas City, Mo. – May 25, 2012 – In celebration of Military Appreciation Month, and in recognition of the sacrifices made by our country’s active and veteran military service members, Grantham University is pleased to announce new benefits added to its Military Severely Injured Scholarship.

First established in 2006, the scholarship offered severely wounded service members who met the eligibility requirements the opportunity to earn an undergraduate or graduate degree tuition-free at Grantham University. Students were responsible for the cost of required textbooks and software. In continuation of its time honored tradition of meeting the educational needs of service members and veterans and to further recognize service members injured at war, Grantham University has now expanded the scholarship.

Effective this month, the cost of required textbooks and software is now included in the Military Severely Injured Scholarship, resulting in significant savings for wounded service members. The cost of tuition varies by degree program, and offers scholarship recipients savings from $12,190 to $35,635. Depending upon the degree chosen, the additional savings on textbooks and software can range from $491.00 to $4,133.00.

Grantham University is one of a select few offering full benefits for severely injured service members. Unlike some scholarships which are restricted to residents within a specific state, Grantham’s scholarship is open to any student in any location who meets the eligibility requirements. In addition, there is no limit the number of scholarships awarded.

“Founded by a veteran in 1951, Grantham University has a rich history of supporting veteran and active service members through a variety of degree programs and career services assistance. We are very pleased to be able to enhance our Military Severely Injured Scholarship,” said Dr. Jeff Cropsey, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Grantham University. “This is just one small way that we can help smooth the transition to civilian life and assist our military service members who sacrifice so much.”

Thanks to flexible, relevant, cost-effective and 100% accredited online degree programs geared to the special circumstances of its students, Grantham has been recognized for five consecutive years as one of the top military-friendly universities in the country by Military Advanced Education magazine, and as a “Best University for Veterans” by Military Times EDGE.
