Grantham University and Labette Community College Open New Doors for Students Pursuing Advanced Degrees

The articulation agreement was signed on Wednesday, Feb. 26, in Parsons, Kan.

Kansas City, Mo. – February 26, 2014 – Transitioning from community college to a four-year-degree just got even easier for some local Parsons students. A new articulation agreement between Grantham University and Labette Community College (LCC) offers graduates, faculty, and staff of LCC with the opportunity to advance their education through online coursework.

“Our mission to provide affordable, accessible, professionally relevant degree programs has moved another step forward,” said Dr. Marilyn Bartels, Grantham’s provost. “Through Grantham’s articulation agreement with schools like Labette Community College, we are able to offer a greater number of students a pathway to baccalaureate degrees through online courses, while continuing life with family and work in the community.”

The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony at the Sonny & Sophia Zetmeir Health Science Building on the Labette Community College campus at 11am CST on February 26. Dr. Bartels and Dr. George Knox, president of Labette Community College, signed the agreement, which will allow students to transfer credits to Grantham toward earning a bachelor’s or graduate degree.

“LCC values its relationship with Grantham University and looks forward to providing a pathway for our students to achieve their goals,” said Dr. Knox.

Eligible faculty, staff and graduates of Labette Community College will also receive a reduced tuition rate at Grantham. All Labette Community College faculty and staff who enroll within the first six months of the signed agreement will receive a $500 tuition grant toward courses at Grantham. This grant will be paid out over the first two consecutive terms of enrollment in equal $250 disbursements.

Grantham’s mission is to provide accessible, affordable, professionally relevant degree programs in a continuously changing global society. For more information about Grantham University and its degree programs, visit www.grantham.edu or call 800-955-2527.
