GRANTHAM UNIVERSITY AWARDS $38,600 SCHOLARSHIP AT GREATER KANSAS CITY ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY CELEBRATION

Military spouse receives a full scholarship at Army’s 240th birthday celebration.

Lenexa, Kan. – June 13, 2015 – This year the Army celebrates their 240th birthday and on June 13th, the Greater Kansas City Association of the United States Army (KCAUSA) commemorated the event with a celebration at the Westin Hotel in Kanas City, Missouri. The evening included military pageantry, fellowship, tradition and entertainment. During the event Amy Yount, a Grantham University student and Army spouse, received a $38,600 scholarship from the University that covers tuition, books, software and fees.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship applicants had to be  a Soldier or spouse of a Soldier, submit a 500 – word essay about “Honorable Service to the Country,” and meet the University’s admissions requirements. Yount said, “A degree from Grantham University means I’ll be able to achieve the personal goals I’ve set for myself years ago.” She will pursue a Bachelor of Science in accounting with the hopes of advancing in her current corporate Accounting career.

Yount and her husband Anthony, a staff sergeant in the Army and a military recruiter, live in West Carrollton, Ohio, and are excited about this new endeavor.
