Grantham University Celebrates 64 Years Educating Students

For more than 64 years, Grantham University has been changing lives through its innovative education: first as a correspondence college – now as a top-rated 100-percent online university

LENEXA, Kan. — Jan. 2, 2015 — For 64 years, Grantham University [www.grantham.edu] has helped students get one step closer to their dreams by offering a premiere education to working adult students around the world. Today, Grantham celebrates its 64th birthday and recognizes the value of providing accessible, affordable education taught by professional, knowledgeable faculty to adult learners.

“Working at Grantham, you can see the difference you make in our students’ lives daily. I constantly receive emails from students who express gratitude for not only helping them in the classroom, but also for caring about them as a person,” said Chi Lo, Grantham’s chair of foundations faculty.

Now a nationally recognized leader in online and military education serving a global student population, the University was founded in 1951 by Donald Grantham, a World War II veteran, who understood the importance of the GI Bill of Rights and its educational benefits. His goal was to help these veterans build a better future upon returning to civilian life. Throughout the years, Grantham has undergone major transformations to stay in line with today’s changing technologies.

“We begin this new year and our 64th year serving students, dedicated to our mission of creating a level playing field in education for adult learners,” said Steve Waldron, chief operating officer at Grantham University.

“That’s a promise and commitment that all Life Changers, our administration, faculty and staff, have made to each student. Grantham’s students are the reason we constantly strive to go above and beyond in all that we do,” Waldron said, “whether that’s providing cutting-edge degree and certificate programs, or helping a parent successfully balance work, family and education simultaneously. We’re happy to give them that chance to pursue their goals that others might have deemed impossible.”

In its continued dedication to students, Grantham experienced a number of changes in its 63rd year including:

  • Moving its headquarters from Kansas City, Missouri, to a larger campus in Lenexa, Kansas, in early 2014 in preparation for future growth and expanded offerings.
  • Finessing the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and Career Services. Both programs are available to all Grantham students.

o   TLC provides online study resources, including learning modules for math and writing, tutorial videos and student success strategies. TLC also has one-on-one tutoring, and writing and math labs, in which students can receive feedback on assignments before they are submitted for grading.

o   Career Services provides professional development tools and one-on-one career search assistance to help students and graduates secure employment after graduation. Services include targeted employment research; assistance with professional branding; help with creating custom resumes, cover letters and portfolios; interview preparation; and access to a virtual job portal.

With its 64th year now underway, Grantham looks forward to even more exciting changes for the benefit of its students to come. To stay up-to-date with the latest developments, visit Grantham’s newsroom.
