Grantham University Named a 2014 Military Friendly School

2014 list marks the 5th consecutive year GU is recognized for serving military students

Kansas City, Mo. — September 17, 2013 — For the fifth year in a row, Grantham University, www.grantham.edu, has been named a Military Friendly School® by G.I. Jobs. The 2014 list recognizes the top 20 percent of post-secondary institutions that go above and beyond in serving America’s men and women in the armed services as they pursue their educational goals.

“Serving our nation’s military members and veterans as they change their lives through education has been our mission for over 62 years,” said Dr. Jeff Cropsey, Grantham University’s vice president for strategic initiatives and external relations. “We are honored to again be recognized as an industry leader for these efforts.”

This year’s Military Friendly School® list was compiled based upon the results of a data-driven survey sent to over 10,000 schools approved for VA funding. The results of the survey, weighting and methodology, were then independently certified by Ernst and Young to generate this year’s list of the elite schools serving over 8 million military member and veteran students.

As part of the survey, Grantham University’s student veterans were polled and gave the University an overall rating of 3.6 out of 4. Students were surveyed in the following areas: veteran resources, school resources, faculty, environment and career services.

Founded by a World War II veteran in 1951, Grantham University has always had a rich culture of support for service members, veterans and spouses. The University has military-friendly policies for both students and employees and ensures faculty is well-trained in military culture, adult learning strategies and online best practices.

In addition to being named a top military friendly school, the University recently received the Missouri Outstanding Military Support Award from the Missouri Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for its support of the military both inside and outside of the classroom.
