Eighth annual rankings highlight veteran and military students’ success

Lenexa, Kan. – December 15, 2016 – Grantham University, a 65-year-old institution delivering accredited online degree programs to adult learners, veterans and active duty military students around the world, has been ranked sixth on the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 survey.

The Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 survey asks colleges and universities to meticulously document an array of services, special rules, accommodations and financial incentives offered to students with military ties; and to describe many aspects of veteran culture on a campus. Institutions were evaluated in several categories, with university culture and academic outcomes bearing the most weight. Military Times also factors in data from the Veterans Affairs and Defense departments, as well as three Education Department sources: the IPEDS Data Center, College Scorecard data and the Cohort Default Rate Database.

More than 500 colleges took part in this year’s detailed survey, with over 150 questions delving into the issues most crucial to military students.

“We are honored to be recognized for continued dedication to providing accessible, affordable and professionally relevant programs to our veterans, servicemembers, and their families,” said Dr. Cheryl Hayek, Interim University President and Provost at Grantham University. “Grantham University is unique in that it was founded by a veteran, and created for other veterans. We are an organization that is 65 years old and still committed to the founder’s mission, dreams and purpose. Our history is not just our history, it’s our past, our present, and it will be our future to continue serving those who serve.”
