IACP Foundation Awards Grantham University Scholarship

IACPKansas City, Mo. – November 25, 2008 Earlier this year, Grantham University, an online university specializing in educating working adults, donated a one-year scholarship to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Foundation.  The University is pleased to announce that the IACP Foundation has awarded the scholarship to Captain Nelson Andreu of the West Miami Police Department. 

Andreu has served in the law enforcement field for over 28 years.  He is described as someone who is “of the highest caliber,” always striving to improve himself, and he has spearheaded many new initiatives within the department.  He has worked in homicide, internal affairs, and administration and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Grantham University.    

“Grantham University is proud to support the IACP Foundation in its efforts to aid the families of law enforcement officers killed or disabled in the line of duty,” said Christine Shelly, executive vice president for Grantham University.  “Giving back to the community is an important part of Grantham’s mission, and it is important to recognize and thank those who work hard to keep our communities safe.” 

Established in 1990, the mission of the IACP Foundation is to serve law enforcement by securing and providing financial resources to support leadership, education, training and research programs, and to assist survivors of law enforcement officers killed and disabled in the line of duty.

Grantham University offers undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Business Management, General Studies, Multidisciplinary Studies, Computer Science and Engineering Technology, as well as graduate degree programs in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Management and Information Technology.  Grantham’s degree programs are flexible and 100% online, allowing students to complete their coursework at times and places that fit their busy schedules.
