Seventh Year of GU’s Operation Thanksgiving Gathers Over 2300 Items for Della Lamb

Grantham University also raised over $250 for the charity, which provides low-income families with educational opportunities in addition to groceries during the holiday season

The giving nature of Kansas City was experienced first-hand by Grantham University in 2005 when they relocated to the greater metropolitan area from Katrina-ravaged Louisiana. For the seventh year, Grantham has given back to the community that has given them so much by hosting Operation Thanksgiving for Della Lamb.

This year, the University’s staff came together and collected over 2300 items to help some of Kansas City’s low-income families experience a warm meal this Thanksgiving. An extra $254 was raised through donations so Della Lamb could buy even more groceries for their cause.

“Kansas City is a unique place,” reflected Joe McGrath, Grantham’s president. “It’s not often you find yourself wait-listed to help the needy, but it happens often here. The city’s giving spirit constantly inspires our Grantham Gives Back initiative, and Della Lamb is an organization that’s close to our hearts.”

This year, more than 1500 families will have a Thanksgiving meal due in large part to Operation Thanksgiving and the generous donations of the Kansas City community. In addition to their seasonal efforts, Della Lamb strives to help families in their educational endeavors.
