November 28, 2007 - Grantham University (www.grantham.edu), specializing in educating working adults, today announced that it would award Specialist Stephanie Lopez one of fifty-four Army National Guard Scholarships.  SPC Lopez, a member of the Army National Guard for five years, serves with the 159th Finance Detachment in Phoenix, Ariz. SPC Lopez will be awarded the scholarship in a presentation at 3 p.m. on December 1 during her drill weekend in Florence, Ariz.

“A scholarship from Grantham University came at the right time in my life,” said SPC Lopez.  “Opportunities like this are not common for people like me. As a full-time human resources professional, student, single parent and National Guard member, I don’t have time to be an on-campus student. This scholarship will show my daughter how important it is to get a college education.”

In conjunction with GX® magazine, a nationwide publication for members of the National Guard and their families, Grantham University provided one full, four-year scholarship to an Army National Guard member in each of the 50 states and four U.S. territories including DC, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.  The scholarship, valued at approximately $34,000, covers: tuition costs, required textbooks and software.
