Back to School After COVID-19: Your Education Plans May Be Changing
By Laura Barker July 30, 2020
Your Education Plans May Be Changing
We have all had to make certain changes during this global health crisis—both in our day-to-day lives and to our long-range planning. Some of these changes have been easy (or even welcomed), like trading in dress pants for sweatpants or signing up for grocery delivery services.
But if you’re a student or prospective student, returning to school may feel a little more complicated.
If you’re not ready to attend in-person classes, have a more complex schedule as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, or simply appreciate the flexibility that online platforms offer during uncertain times, distance education could be the perfect solution for continuing your education.
Experts in Online Learning
Grantham University has a strong foundation in online learning, having focused exclusively on distance learning since 1976. In fact, Grantham has been continuously accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) since 1961. Today, the university offers 100% online certificate and degree programs in a variety of disciplines to students worldwide.
While many schools and training institutions are scrambling to make their programs available in an online format in response to COVID-19, Grantham’s expertise in virtual education is well established. We have online degree programs down to a science!
Whether you’re a returning student or getting ready to enroll in your very first class, Grantham is equipped to provide you quality education, no matter where you live or what your schedule looks like.
Just Getting Started
Now could be a great time to further your education and prepare for life after COVID-19, even if you haven’t already started a program. Grantham offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four different colleges: the Mark Skousen School of Business, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Nursing and Allied Health and the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
If you’re not sure about committing to an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree program (and to two to four years of study), an 18-credit-hour certificate program could be the perfect way to give distance education a try and to expand your horizons in a shorter timeframe.
As the healthcare field continues to expand—particularly in response to the current health crisis—you may be interested in joining the ranks of support staff, such as the coding and billing specialists and administrative assistants. Grantham’s Medical Coding and Billing program is perfect for those looking to break into a new healthcare career.
Students eager to build a career in technology can learn about cybersecurity principles, practices and policies in the Cybersecurity Concepts program. Designed to be completed in just eight months, graduates can pursue entry-level cybersecurity positions or apply earned credits toward an associate or bachelor’s degree program.
Thinking about opening your own business? Learn strategic planning skills, construct a marketing plan, and even create a business plan for the first three years of your startup organization in the Practical Entrepreneurship program. You could be ready to hit the ground running with your own business in as few as eight months.
Making the Transfer
If you’ve taken courses at another institution, you may be able to transfer credit hours to a Grantham program. The hard work you’ve already done at another school could put you, in some cases, up to 75% closer to your degree before you even begin your first Grantham class.
Our admissions representatives are eager to make the transition to a Grantham undergraduate or graduate program as seamless as possible. They’ll work with you to evaluate your earned credits, equivalency exams and ACE-evaluated corporate and military training to determine prior learning that is eligible for transfer.
