Q: What are your responsibilities at Grantham?
A:I handle a variety of e-mails and fulfill various student requests including custom letters.  I’m also responsible for updating student biographical information, including name changes, power of attorney documentation and FERPA release form documentation.  As a manager in the Enrollment Processing Department, my job duties include ensuring that policies and procedures are followed, coordinating with other departments as changes occur or issues arise, completing employee time sheets and performance evaluations, and ensuring that the department runs smoothly.  I also perform the degree audits for all graduating students.  Through this process, I assist with awarding degrees, and ordering and mailing diplomas and official transcripts - all with the help of my wonderful staff.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your position?
A: Working with both Enrollment Processing and Graduation, I am in a unique position in which I get the pleasure of seeing students fulfill their academic goals from "cradle to grave".  There are students that I registered several years ago that I now get the honor of awarding their degrees and mailing their diplomas.

A: If you have a problem or an issue, let us know.  We are here for you and we will do everything in our power to help you achieve your academic goals.

About Gina: Gina, who was born and raised in New Orleans, is the mother of three children and has two grandchildren, ages 7 and 6.  For the last eight years, Gina has also raised her niece; she will be graduating from high school this year - class of 2011.

In 1994, Gina started working in the distance education field (at another institution) and has maintained a position in the Registrar's Office since that time.  As a hurricane Katrina survivor, Gina jumped at the chance to come to Kansas City after living without electricity or water for 10 days. “It was difficult not knowing what the future would hold, or how I would support myself and my family,” commented Gina. “I am so grateful for Grantham and the support that was provided to employees during that time.  I now consider Kansas City my home, with trips to Louisiana several times a year to visit family and friends.”

On the 5th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Gina and some of her fellow co-workers were interviewed by KCTV 5 News about their experiences following Hurricane Katrina. To view the interview, visit our YouTube page.

We are glad to have Gina here at Grantham University! Thank you, Gina, for your passion for education, and for all the help you provide students and staff alike each day.
