Grantham University MBA student Captain Tyler Moore, who is just steps away from graduating, has published his second book titled, "The Power Within: A Spiritual Guide for Runners." Released earlier this month by Wordclay Publishing, an online/on-demand publishing company, this book contains inspirational words and passages from the King James Bible and the New Living Translation Bible, personal reflections about Captain Moore's own running experiences, and illustrations by Veronica Smith.
Captain Moore is the Information Management and Logistics Officer, Information Resources Management College, National Defense University, at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. He is a 21-year veteran of the United States Air Force, and is also a lifelong runner who has competed in dozens of races, including three marathons. He is a finisher of the 2010 Marine Corps Marathon, which is held annually in Washington, D.C.
"Two years in the making, this book was developed from church sermons, biblical scriptures, and the power of personal prayer, which served as my guidance and motivation while competing in races and running through the neighborhood on a daily basis," said Captain Moore.
In spring 2009, Captain Moore recruited and collaborated with Ms. Smith, then a senior at Clovis High School in Clovis, N.M., to create illustrations that would serve as a visual inspiration. The illustrations created by Ms. Smith, who is now a student at Clovis Community College, serve as the perfect complement for the book.
With the successful publication of "The Power Within," Captain Moore is already focusing on his next publication, "101 Reasons to Love Running," projected to be released in the fall of 2011.
