LENEXA, Kan. – April 24, 2018 – Dana Guillory, a 22-year U.S. Army veteran, personal trainer and motivational consultant, has been named Grantham University’s 2018 Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) Outstanding Graduate of the Year.

“We are proud to distinguish Dana as our 2018 Outstanding Graduate,” said Niccole Kopit, Grantham University chief academic officer. “She exemplifies the critical role higher education can play in achieving life goals, and we commend her on her many amazing accomplishments – personally and professionally.”

Guillory, a cancer survivor, currently operates her own motivational consulting company, Potential Realized, LLC., where she works with individuals and businesses to analyze, set and achieve their goals. She also uses her personal training certification to help individuals with their fitness goals, and companies in reducing employees’ health risks with company-wide fitness goals and strategies.

She earned multiple degrees and certificates from Grantham University: a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies, a master’s degree in performance improvement and a graduate-level certificate in human resources.

“Going to school online took commitment, discipline and patience,” Guillory said. “The knowledge and degrees I earned at Grantham University empowered me to enter the workforce, and now entrepreneurship, with confidence, and provided the educational foundation to advance my career and ultimately my professional reputation.”

Guillory was recognized at the 2018 DEAC National Conference in San Diego, today, alongside graduates of other DEAC-accredited universities. Additionally, she will serve as the Alumni Speaker at the online university’s 2018 Commencement Ceremony August 4, in Kansas City, Mo., with an expected attendance of approximately 1,800 graduates and guests.

After completing her education at Grantham, Guillory was inducted into the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), receiving its Woman of the Year award in 2016.  In December 2017, she earned the Certified Veteran Fitness Operative (CVFO) title through the FitOps Foundation, where she has helped other veterans become Certified Personal Trainers. And in March 2018, Dana earned inclusion into the esteemed Continental Who’s Who organization and was awarded the Pinnacle Professional of the Year award for her accomplishments, both professionally and personally.  As a result of this honor, there will be a permanent place for her in the Library of Congress.
