Grantham’s scholarship provides an AFGE member with up to $38,600 in tuition costs, required textbooks and software fees.

Lenexa, Kan. – May 25, 2016 – Grantham University, a 65-year-old institution delivering accredited online degree programs to working adults and active-duty military and veteran students around the world, is focused on providing affordable higher education for adult learners.  Grantham is partnering with the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) to award a full Grantham undergraduate or graduate scholarship (valued at up to $38,600) to one AFGE member.

“The Grantham University scholarship has given me an opportunity to improve my ability to provide for my family.  The way the class terms are designed works very well with my busy work and life schedule, keeping my educational goals attainable and realistic,” said Nathan Sporin, the 2015 AFGE scholarship winner. “Grantham was really good about transferring my past college credits and giving me credit for relevant job training, and my student advisor was very helpful guiding me through the registration process and steering me toward the resources to be successful.”

Grantham specializes in non-traditional adult learning, working hard to enhance learning experiences and prepare students to succeed. Through this important alliance, AFGE members can complete their college courses completely online at home, at work, or from anywhere in the world – all at a special tuition rate. But even though coursework is completed online, students are not alone. From the application process to the last class, the student advisor is there every step of the way to answer questions and provide encouragement to achieve graduation goals. Available via email, during virtual classroom hours and by phone, professors are always ready to help, too.

“Grantham University established a partnership with AFGE in 2004, and we recognize the organization’s commitment to provide excellent government services and ensure government workers are treated fairly and with dignity,” said Heidi Feiden, university and employer relationships manager for Grantham University. “In addition to the scholarship, AFGE members can also take advantage of a special tuition rate of $250 per credit hour and professional development training opportunities.”
