Kansas City, Mo. – January 26, 2010 – Grantham University, www.grantham.edu, an online university dedicated to providing educational opportunities to working adults, announced today that for the third year in a row, it has been recognized as a Military Advanced Education Military-Friendly College and University. This year, Grantham University received additional accolades for its Veterans Services program.
The list, which is published each year, is intended to act as a guide for military and veteran students who are interested in furthering their education. During the evaluation process, the following criteria were considered: an institution's distance learning programs, academic programs, veterans support services, accreditation, and membership in the Servicemembers Opportunities Colleges consortium. The 3rd Annual Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities can be viewed in the November/December 2009 issue of Military Advanced Education.
"We are proud to be recognized as a top quality provider of education," said Dr. John LaNear, President of Grantham University. "I am especially honored that our hard work and dedication to our nation's veterans was commended because we have a rich history and tradition of serving the educational needs of those deserving students."
Grantham University was founded in 1951 by Donald Grantham, a veteran of World War II, to help prepare veterans for new jobs in the electronics' industry and a better future upon their return to civilian life. Today, the University supports thousands of online students in 24 different associate, bachelor's and master's degree programs. While veterans no longer comprise 100% of its student body, the University has remained true to Donald Grantham's commitment to serving the academic needs of those who serve our country.
To ensure that its programs are accessible and affordable to service members and veterans, Grantham offers military scholarship programs, an interactive online learning environment and a variety of student support services, including a dedicated Veterans Services team, tutoring services, mentoring programs and a career service assistance center.
