Helping CJ Get a Leg Up On Life
By Grantham University
Joel Hebert, a Grantham University employee, and his son, C.J., who suffers from multiple osteochondromas (non-cancerous bone tumors), and proximal femoral focal deficiency multiple osteochondromas (non-cancerous bone tumors), and proximal femoral focal deficiency multiple osteochondromas and proximal femoral focal deficiency, received a standing ovation from Grantham staff at the University’s staff meeting on Thursday, June 30th. This month, C.J. and his family traveled to Florida for C.J. to undergo a radical surgery called Rotation Plasty.
Several months ago, when the University first learned of CJ’s need for the surgery, the Grantham family wanted to know what they could do to help. Staff rallied together to raise $6,500 for the Hebert family to help cover travel costs, and employees donated enough leave time, 12 weeks, to ensure that Joel does not go without pay during the time he is away for CJ’s surgery and recovery.
Grantham staff is cheering C.J. on from Kansas City through a Facebook page created for C.J. To follow the story of C.J.’s journey, visit: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Helping-CJ-Get-a-Leg-Up-On-Life/227299053948697.
