University committed to ensuring that each student registered for classes in October will continue their education as planned

Kansas City, Mo. — October 04, 2013 — Because of the partial shutdown of the federal government, some college funding sources for students have seen an immediate impact, like military tuition assistance. GoArmyEd released a statement on October 1 explaining that due to the lack of a budget to fund the government, “all Soldier accounts in GoArmyEd have been placed on hold and they will not be able to process any new TA requests.” The same holds true for all branches of service, and the future of federal financial aid may be called into question in the weeks to come.

“Because of recent circumstances beyond their control, military students across the country are scrambling to figure out whether or not they can continue working on their college degrees,” said Joseph McGrath, president of Grantham University. “Grantham has committed to its students that if they are registered to start classes in October, they will start despite the halt in tuition funding.”

The University will work with each affected student on a case-by-case basis to discuss available funding options including scholarships, grants, VA benefits, corporate tuition reimbursement and financial aid.

“We want our military students to remain focused on their education, a benefit they so richly deserve, and know that Grantham University remains committed to their success,” said McGrath.
