Six full scholarships will enable quality, accessible education for members of Grantham partner organizations.

Lenexa, Kan. – April 16, 2015 – Grantham University, a 64-year-old institution delivering accredited online degree programs to working adults and active-duty military students around the world, is partnering with five government and military service organizations to offer new undergraduate and graduate scholarships for members and their families.

“Part of Grantham’s mission is to provide affordable, relevant, accessible educational opportunities,” Brad Gibbs, Grantham University’s chief development officer said. “One of the many ways we accomplish that charge is by partnering with organizations that embody the same values, spirit and commitment to service as we do.”

Grantham has created three total full-time scholarships – valued at $38,600 – with each being awarded to current members of the National Organization of Blacks in Government (BIG), the Kansas City chapter of the Association of the United States Army (KC-AUSA) and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard (EANGUS). The university is also offering a full $38,600 scholarship to a member of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE).

Additionally, the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) is partnering with Grantham to offer two full graduate scholarships, each valued at $14,200. One scholarship will be awarded to an active NGAUS member, while the second is for a spouse of an active member.

Application Requirements

AFGE Scholarship – Applicants must be a member of AFGE, meet the University’s minimum requirements and submit a 500-1000 word essay describing their relationship with the union and the labor movement, how it has personally affected their life, and they believe they are a good choice for a union scholarship. BIG Scholarship – Applicants must be a member of BIG, meet the University’s minimum requirements and write a 500-1000 word essay discussing what BIG 2015 National Training Institute's theme (BIG - Connect, Communicate, Collaborate - Advance) means to him or her. EANGUS CSM Virgil R. Williams Scholarship – Named in honor of CSM Virgil R. Williams, the scholarship covers tuition costs, required textbooks, software and fees. Awards will be made on basis of scholarship, character, leadership and need.
