The new agreement allows students who have completed an associate degree to transfer to corresponding bachelor’s degrees
Lenexa, Kan. — Sep. 15, 2014 — Since 1901, Sedalia, Mo., has been the home of the Missouri State Fair. In 1968, the town’s appropriately named State Fair Community College (SFCC) opened its doors to meet the post-secondary educational needs of 14 counties in the western central Missouri area. Recently, SFCC signed an articulation agreement with Grantham University in which its associate degree graduates can take their education even further by transferring to the 100 percent online university to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
The articulation agreement is a 2+2 bachelor’s degree completion program. SFCC students who have completed any associate degree with at least a 2.0 GPA can transfer into Grantham’s Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies program. Additionally, SFCC students who have earned their degrees in the following areas can transfer into a corresponding bachelor’s degree at Grantham:
- Accounting Associate of Arts to Bachelor of Science Accounting
- Business Associate of Arts to Bachelor of Science Business Management or Bachelor of Science Business Administration or Bachelor of Business Administration Human Resources
- Computer Science Associate of Arts to Bachelor of Science Computer Science
- Criminal Justice Associate of Arts to Bachelor of Arts Criminal Justice
- Engineering Associate of Science to Bachelor of Science Electronics Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Science Engineering Management Technology or Bachelor of Science Computer Engineering Technology
- SFCC’s graduates of the Nursing Associate of Applied Science who have at least a 2.5 GPA and their RN license have the opportunity to transfer to Grantham’s Bachelor of Science Nursing program.
In addition to SFCC’s students and graduates, eligible members of the faculty and staff have the opportunity to continue their education through Grantham’s online courses at a reduced tuition rate for bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
“State Fair Community College and Grantham see eye to eye on many educational practices, including small classes, superb educators, and providing courses in ways that fit into our students’ lives with minimal interruption. Due to these similarities, it was only logical to come together through this articulation agreement to continue providing a quality education for both schools’ students and alumni,” said Dr. Marilyn Bartels, Grantham’s provost.
“Expanding university partnerships is a priority for SFCC as we strive to help students complete their educational goals,” said Dr. Joanna Anderson, SFCC president. “The articulation agreements signed with Grantham University will give students clear pathways for completing a bachelor’s degree online in several majors. We appreciate the interest Grantham University has shown in our students and employees, and look forward to growing this new partnership.”
Grantham University has been helping working adults achieve their educational goals for more than 63 years. Grantham’s original school, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, offers certificates, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fields ranging from computer science to engineering management technology to information systems security.
