Dr. Susan Fairchild Nursing Scholarship

In honor of the founding dean of the Grantham College of Nursing, Grantham University has created the Dr. Susan Fairchild Nursing Scholarship. Dr. Susan Fairchild joined Grantham University in August 2009 when she was asked to come out of retirement to develop the University’s nursing programs.

Previously, she taught nursing for more than 30 years at the associate, baccalaureate and master’s levels in both traditional and distance learning environments and has authored two nursing textbooks related to Perioperative Nursing Practice and Education. For her dedication and contributions to both Grantham and the nursing community, Dr. Fairchild was named Dean Emerita in October 2013 and continued to work to support the programs through spring 2014. The educational programs she instituted here at Grantham have received accreditation from the Accreditation Commission of Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), organizations committed to educational excellence in the field of nursing.

The Dr. Susan Fairchild Nursing Scholarship is offered to two deserving nursing students each year, one at the undergraduate and one at the graduate level, who exemplify the qualities Dr. Fairchild and the profession of nursing represent. The scholarship is valued up to $2,040 and covers the tuition and fees for two courses.
