UA Grantham’s medical administration programs are designed to provide you with the skills needed to manage and oversee healthcare facilities and services. The primary objective of these programs is to prepare graduates for leadership in the healthcare industry, by providing a comprehensive understanding of the operational, financial, legal, and ethical issues that affect healthcare organizations.
Students learn about topics including healthcare operations, financial management, quality improvement, and legal and ethical issues in healthcare. Graduates in these programs come from a variety of roles and settings including hospitals, clinics, private practices, and government agencies, where they use newly acquired knowledge to help improve the delivery of healthcare services.
With the exception of master’s as well as medical coding and billing programs, all programs in medical administration use Medical Office Simulation Software (MOSS), which allows students to engage in hands-on experiences that prepare them for roles in medical office management. By simulating the day-to-day operations of a medical office—including patient check-in, appointment scheduling, billing and record keeping— the software enables interactive scenarios that mirror real-world situations and help students develop the skills and knowledge they need to be more effective in medical office management responsibilities such as medical office administrator or medical billing specialist. MOSS also includes a grading and feedback system which allows instructors to provide feedback and monitor student performance and progress.
